Former two-division world champion Jessie Vargas from Las Vegas returns to action on October 6th in Chicago but is eyeing big fights after that should he win.
Vargas fights on the first live US event card for new streaming platform DAZN which is being promoted by Eddie Hearn and Matchroom in the US.
He will take on Thomas Dulorme in Chicago, which is a tough fight in itself but if he gets through it, a rematch from his defeat to Manny Pacquiao from a few years back is top of his list.
Speaking to The Boxing Channel, Vargas said:
“After that (October 6th) we look forward to fighting the big fights of the year. I look forward to fighting for a world title. Manny Pacquiao, I would love to rematch with Manny.”
He added:
“It’s still possible. It’s a fight that can be made. We have to try to negotiate. For now I’ve got a fight date October 6th but after that’s it’s very likely.”
It is thought that Eddie Hearn and DAZN are in the running at present to secure Pacquiao’s US promotional rights, as is Floyd Mayweather and Bob Arum.
