Floyd Mayweather the promoter looks to be upping his game after this bit of news in the staging of an excellent fight involving his protegé Gervonta Davis.
Undefeated ‘Tank’ Davis (20-0-19KO) won the WBA super-featherweight world title earlier this year but has only boxed the once so far in total for 2018.
Floyd Mayweather his promoter however has now confirmed that he will take on highly regarded Mexican warrior Abner Mares in 2018:

No exact date or venue as of yet, but a cracking fight to look forward to before the year is out in the super-featherweight division.
Earlier in the year Davis was heavily linked with a showdown against pound for pound supremo Vasyl Lomachenko but talks surrounding it seemed to have died down in recent months.
Mayweather at the time was vocal in wanting to make the fight happen but Davis himself at one point mentioned he was not in the loop as regards making the fight.
Both Mayweather and Davis’ fighter-promoter relationship seems to be solid once again however.
