A former promotional stablemate and sparring partner has brought out sparring footage of Gervonta Davis appearing to not look so good in sparring – but Davis has quickly responded with his own footage of some of the spar.
Sparring is sparring and should remain behind close doors but alas, in this social media era we now live in, sparring footage always seems to be appear online these days eventually.
Last year’s Conor McGregor and Paulie Malignaggi sparring footage pretty much dominated the sports landscape on the internet for a solid three months in 2017 for example.
Super-lightweight Josue Vargas has left Mayweather Promotions and upon doing so brought out this video of his sparring with Davis and had this to say:

Davis who recently was linked with a fight against Lomachenko and was reported to be at odds with his promoter Floyd Mayweather, quickly responded with the following:
If anything this proves one thing – that sparring footage can be easily edited and manipulated.
Unless you’re showing the full rounds and overall session in its entirety, it is quite easy to show various moments in sparring sessions that were favorable to one guy or another.
