Former pound for pound maestro while in retirement at present has hinted that he may return to the sport in the future.
Both Ward and Bellew know one another from the acting world when the two worked alongside one another on the film set of Rocky movie ‘Creed’ but grumblings about a potential (real) fight between the two have continued since over the last year or so.
Ward was a light-heavyweight in his prime but following back to back wins over Sergey Kovalev ‘Dre’ decided to hang up the gloves and focus his energies elsewhere.
Following this past weekend’s win over David Haye Liverpool’s Tony Bellew mentioned Ward as one of the names he’d like to fight in the future.
Speaking to the folks at Fight Hype Ward had this response:
A typically cool and calculated response from Ward.
A fight that if it were to happen would certainly be an interesting one style-wise and one that Ward would surely open up as a heavy favorite to win.
But as last weekend proved – never right off Tony Bellew.
A boxer underrated by many over the years who time and time again has surprised the bookmakers.
A true working class hero who deserves all the success in the world.
