UFC President Dana White before last Christmas signaled to the media that he would be becoming a boxing promoter this year. However all has been quiet on the Western front, as they say. Until now.
White has proven his ability to promote big fights in the sport of MMA under the UFC banner but as he is probably finding out at the moment, the complex boxing landscape for promoters is quite a bit different.
No one organisation owns the sport of boxing, like the UFC essentially does in MMA.
UFC in many ways created an entire sport but in boxing there are so many other things to consider like sanctioning bodies, rival TV networks and (genuine) other rival promotional companies.
However White appears to be getting down and dirty in the boxing business and as reporter Kevin Iole has pointed out – looks set to sign undefeated Mikey Garcia as his first boxer:

Quite the signing for his first boxer if he gets it over the line.
The main thing that White needs after this is a TV deal.
A platform where he can guarantee his fighters exposure.
UFC Fight Pass was used not long ago to show Roy Jones’ final boxing fight of his career.
Perhaps this could also be used for some of White’s planned boxing content.
