Canelo Given Reduced Suspension From The NSAC

This morning in Las Vegas Mexican boxing star Canelo Alvarez learned his fate following a failed drugs test prior to a rematch date with Gennady Golovkin which was forced to be pulled.

It was decided this morning by the NSAC that Canelo would be given a reduction in suspension from 12 months to 6 months given his cooperation during the NSAC’s investigation.

Both Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler and trainer Abel Sanchez were present at the hearing that saw members of Canelo’s legal team on the phone call into the hearing to agree to 6 month suspension settlement.

Canelo himself was not present.

It was mentioned that the rematch will look to go ahead after the suspension is served later this year.
