Golovkin Finally Breaks Silence Following Canelo Pulling Out Of Rematch

World middleweight number one Gennady Golovkin has now spoken to reporters for the first time since it was confirmed that the Canelo Alvarez rematch would not be happening on May 5th.

The scramble is now on to find the new opponent in Vegas on May 5th where Golovkin will still compete and has been training hard nonetheless without a confirmed opponent just yet.

The bout will be on HBO pay per view most likely and even though Canelo withdrawing is a massive loss, Golovkin has sold out approximately his last eight venues – so significant demand still exists to see the best 160lbs fighter in the world.

One leading contender for the fight is Irishman Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan but nothing has been confirmed just yet.

Following Canelo cancelling Golovkin spoke to a number of reporters about everything at this point at a horse race track (hat tip Fight Hub YouTube):

As you can see, who the opponent is next does not exactly bother Golovkin.

As one reporter pointed out – he pretty much just wants a body put in front of him that he can look to knock out.

That’s always been his way, really, and is why he continues to have such a loyal and growing following among boxing fans.
