Current promoter Eddie Hearn has now reacted to the story of the week so far surrounding heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua reportedly being pursued by combat sports promoter titan – the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
The story broke earlier this week from Gareth Davies of The Telegraph and has since got the fight world talking.
UFC head honcho Dana White has gone on record for months now stating that he is getting into boxing promotion.
He’s made no secret of the fact Anthony Joshua would be one of the fighter’s he’d like to promote.
Speaking to Kugan Cassius of IFL TV, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn responded:
“I would expect them to make an offer. I think everyone will make an offer. I’d be interested in sitting down, as Joshua says, he’s happy for us all to sit down with Dana White and see if there is an opportunity for us to work together.”
He added:
“I’d be very interested to see what his (Dana White) plan is. I know he’s been talking about it for a while, haven’t seen anything yet. We’ll see. If Dana White wants to get into boxing which he keeps saying he’s going to do, of course he’d be interested in signing Anthony Joshua. He’s the biggest star in boxing.”
Joshua fights next week on March 31st in a unification bout against Joseph Parker at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.
