James DeGale Next Fight Confirmed

Former super-middleweight world champion James ‘Chunky’ DeGale has received the news that he wanted since suffering defeat last year and losing his title.

DeGale (23-2-1-14KO) fought last in December of last when he surrendered his IBF 168lbs title to 34-year-old American Caleb Truax (29-3-2-18KO).

DeGale dropped a majority points decision that evening on December 9th to Truax in what was one of the biggest upsets in boxing of 2017.

He’s got the rematch that he wanted so badly and confirmed the news officially on social media:

A nice addition to what is already shaping up to be a very fun month in April on the boxing calendar indeed.

Olympic gold medallist DeGale’s only two losses in his professional career have come to Truax and many years ago – a close split decision loss to George Groves.

Groves now fights in the final of the super-middleweight World Boxing Super Series tournament against Callum Smith this summer.

Both DeGale and Groves have been linked with a rematch for years but as of to now, the two’s careers have taken very different paths.

No doubt if DeGale wins his rematch with Truax and if Groves were to beat Smith to retain his WBA title, a logical unification rematch fight between the two could be on the cards later in 2018.
