The sad news that many were dreading has now unfortunately been confirmed this morning as boxer Scott Westgarth dies after a professional boxing match at the weekend in the UK.
The fight took place in Doncaster and light-heavyweight Westgarth beat Dec Spelman at the Doncaster Dome by unanimous points decision.
It improved his professional record to 7-2-1-2KO.
After the bout the 31-year-old boxer did his post-fight interview as usual and everything seemed okay.
Although some noted afterwards that he had a headache on camera.
Following the 10 round bout Westgarth fell ill back stage and had to be rushed to hospital shortly after.
The rest of the evening’s professional boxing event was immediately cancelled in Doncaster.
The sad news was confirmed this morning by Westgarth’s promoter Stefy Bull that Scott lost his life on Sunday.
