One of Britain’s best super-middleweights ever was a keen fan this past weekend like everyone else in the WBA super-middleweight title fight between George Groves and Chris Eubank Jr.
Benn had shared the ring with Eubank’s father in similar big fights years before but this weekend it was George Groves’ time.
He won a unanimous points decision in a display that showed maturity and experience – and dispelled any doubts that people had about his stamina levels.
Following the bout here’s what Nigel Benn had to say about the fight:

Groves has won plaudits worldwide for his display which has now set up an intriguing next fight.
He’ll take on the winner of Callum Smith vs Braehmer that takes place next week with the final being aimed at for this coming June.
It is not totally clear yet however if the shoulder injury Groves sustained at the weekend will hamper him for this date.
An update should be forthcoming this week.
One would suspect that if the injury did hamper this date that the organisers would at least look to push the date back a bit, rather than rule Groves out of the tournament.
