Joe Joyce moved to 2-0 as a professional this past Friday night with a first round blowout of a guy he was expected to beat. But his promoter David Haye is now looking to put him into a big fight straight away next up – against a man who’s been around the block.
Dereck Chisora told Joyce a few weeks back that if the money was right that he’d have no problem fighting the 21-year-old amateur standout.
Well, David Haye is calling him on it.
Has confirmed today that he and promoter Eddie Hearn have put together a significant financial package for heavyweight Chisora:
Joe Joyce 2-0 (2 ko's) v Dereck Chisora 27-8 (19 ko's) is pretty much sorted to be on the #hayebellew2 undercard on May 5.
This fight will be a barnstormer from the first bell. The British heavyweight scene is as healthy as I can ever remember… Let's get it on!! #joycevchisora pic.twitter.com/OOlxaHKftr— David Haye (@davidhaye) February 17, 2018
May 5th is already shaping up to be an excellent night of boxing between the Tony Bellew vs David Haye rematch in the UK and then later that night in the US – the Gennady Golovkin vs Canelo Alvarez rematch.
Chisora vs Joyce would be a nice addition to the night’s festivities.
By the sounds of it it’s a good offer too.
Expect to hear official confirmation on this fight in the coming weeks as Chisora mulls over it.
