A fighter who knows one of this weekend’s boxers very well is current WBO middleweight world champion Billy Joe Saunders.
Saunders is still the sole defeat on the professional record of Chris Eubank Jr thus far and knows his old rival’s boxing game better than most.
Since that night Eubank Jr now finds himself in the super-middleweight division as he gets ready to do battle with Groves tomorrow night for the WBA super-middleweight world title.
Speaking to Kugan Cassius of IFL TV ahead of the fight, Saunders sees this weekend’s fight one way:
“Groves can’t let the early rounds slip, he has to use his feet, if he don’t, Eubank could outwork him, but I can only see Groves catching him.”
Interesting analysis.
Many think that although Eubank Jr might be a super fit, relentless boxer, that this could work against him against a sharp counter puncher like Groves.
If there’s one way to slow someone down big right hands from a fully fledged super-middleweight is sure to do it.
This will be the most naturally strong fighter Eubank has faced in his career to date.
Not long to go now and all shall be revealed. For the full interview with IFL YouTube (hat tip) check it out here:
