This weekend’s fight against WBA super-middleweight world champion George Groves marks the biggest fight of Chris Eubank Jr’s career to date since losing to Billy Joe Saunders a few years back.
On that occasion Saunders ran out a points winner and has since gone on to become WBO middleweight champion of the world.
It still reads as the sole defeat in Eubank’s professional tenure in the sweet science thus far.
Speaking at the final press conference ahead of this weekend fight, Eubank Jr opened up on the main thing he’s learned since then:
“The number one thing I learned in that fight was to start from round one. I paced myself too early in that fight through inexperience. It was my first twelve round fight. Since then I’ve never made that same mistake. I start as I mean to go on. Saturday night will be no different. Form round one I will be on top of Gorge. Punishing him for having the arrogance to step in the ring with me.”
The weigh in for the event will kick off this Friday at 3pm local time in the UK.
But the main event fighters are not expected on the scales until at least 4pm.
The ring walk for Saturday’s fight is expected to be approximately 10pm UK time.
