Roy Jones Jr finally called it a day in the boxing ring last night after winning a unanimous points decision in his home State of Florida in a bout that was shown on UFC Fight Pass.
Jones can hold his head held high after one of the most entertaining and memorable careers in recent boxing memory.
An astonishing fighter at his peak, he moved through the divisions with ease which culminated in a WBA heavyweight title win against John Ruiz.
A superb commentator nowadays for HBO too ensures that he will have plenty to keep himself occupied with now that he’s retired.
As you can imagine, the love and support for one of boxing’s great warriors since his retirement has been plentiful.
Here is some of the sentiment being expressed in the boxing world from fans so far:
Great to see Roy Jones Jnr ending his career on a win. Hopefully he calls it a day once and for all now ? #RoyJonesJr
