Amir Khan’s comeback opponent Phil Lo Greco has taken issue with Khan when he accused him of simply coming over to fight him for a pay-day.
Obviously the Canadian will get paid well, that’s a given.
But the claim by Khan insinuates that he knows he’s going to get beaten and is simply taking the fight with him on April 21st as a quick pay-day.
Well, at today’s press conference Lo Greco dismissed that notion and brought about a few laughs when he told the public that Khan and his promoter Eddie Hearn were cheap:
“Please. By the way, this fool over here this is my biggest pay-day. Not even close. Not even close. Not even close you cheap f***s. Not even f****** close. It’s obviously the fact that I believe in myself to come over here (to the UK).”
What his purse is for the fight was not forthcoming but based on what he’s saying, you’d have to imagine he got paid a fair bit more for the Errol Spence fight compared to this Khan showdown.
The two will fight one another for real on April 21st at the Liverpool Arena after what was one of the more strange press conferences in recent boxing earlier today.
