Tyson Fury is drastically shedding the pounds at the moment ahead of an expected return to the ring in around May it is thought.
Getting in shape was never going to be easy after the two years Fury had outside the ring.
Bad eating, bad living, depression and substance abuse, he’s had a lot of ground to make up for anyone.
Let alone a championship level boxer at the highest level of sport like he was against Wladimir Klitschko.
While losing weight has been a part of his career, it’s never gotten to the stage like it had over the last six weeks or so since he properly knuckled back down to training ahead of what turned out to be a successful hearing with UKAD.
But he’s not just doing the hard work. He’s doing it smartly too. His nutritionist told Sky Sports that:
“He has lost nearly four stone. But it’s not just about the weight, you have to be mentally right as well.”
A very fair point and one particularly relevant for Fury given his battle with mental illness in that not so distant past.
Not long ago Fury promised to dedicate his comeback fight to the many people around the world suffering with a form of mental illness.
