Billy Joe Saunders Calls Out GGG After Dominating Lemieux

WBO world middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders calls out GGG after making a successful North American debut last night.

It was one of the best performances of Saunders’ career when he took David Lemieux to school over twelve rounds in Canada.

From start to finish he never looked in any trouble as he coasted towards a dominating unanimous points decision victory on the night.

Speaking after the bout one fighter was on his mind for 2018 in his post-fight interview:

“Golovkin you keep saying you want my WBO belt when I was 14 stone and out of shape and not in love with boxing. Then you wanted to fight me. Fight me now. Now fight me. We’ll see a different story because you’ll be punching fresh air.”

Golovkin must first come through an expected rematch with Canelo Alvarez in 2018 before any potential unification fight can be made, but has been more than willing to face Saunders in the past.

The two did briefly meet in a London press conference earlier in 2017 when Saunders called out Golovkin in person with this interruption in his UK press tour before the Canelo fight:
