Carl Frampton and Nonito Donaire in the featherweight division next year could be just around the corner judging by this.
The two fighters have shared a level of mutual respect for a number of years now, often complimentary to one another in their post-fight thoughts about one another.
But they were just never for one reason or other able to make a fight happen. Donaire’s career went one way after losing to Rigondeaux, Frampton’s another.
But the stars seems to have aligned now for a possible showdown with Frampton’s recent move to the featherweight division and it’s something the respected Filipino boxer is open to (hint-hint by the below):
In other news, could anyone tell me what the temperature looks like in Belfast around March? Asking for a friend ? @RealCFrampton

Well, Frampton has received that subtle hint loud and clear, saying today:
Not completely Baltic so I’ll say semi Baltic. Could still freeze the balls off a brass monkey though https://t.co/sGQHlcBXXZ

From a fight style point of view the pair would likely match up well – both more than willing in the past to come forward and trade leather when they have to.
Although, if you were to pick who is the slightly more boxer-type of the two, you’d have to lean with Frampton – who can box on the back foot perhaps a little more than Donaire.
Some might say Donaire carries more power, though. An all round great scrap if it happens in the new year.
