Heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte responds to Hughie Fury request as a fight between the two looks possible for 2018.

The heavyweight division is certainly interesting at the top of the pile once again, in terms of the champions.

But just below unification and significant fight level, a number of intriguing rivalries are also forming between top contenders in boxing’s traditional glamor division.

Hughie Fury lost a close and controversial decision in his first bid for a heavyweight title this year on points to WBO champion Joseph Parker – but will have no doubt gained a lot from the experience at such a young age in heavyweight terms.

His fellow UK heavyweight rival Dillian Whyte also had a frustrating year but managed to keep winning with two victories – and is also on the hunt for a world title in 2018.

Speaking earlier today, Fury had this message for Whyte:

Whyte has now responded to the Manchester man by saying:

Style-wise, it could be the classic puncher vs boxer. A come forward fighter vs slick operator in Fury.

Time will tell if it’s a go, or not.
