Puerto Rican sensation Charlie Natal returns fights in the big Apple in an explosive clash against unbeaten Irishman Laurence Gleeson.
In is what’s set to be fight of the night next Thursday at the NYC B.B Kings Blues Lounge, Charlie “Mr Hollywood Natal” (9-0) puts his undefeated record on the line against Irish National Laurence Gleeson (5-0) in his back yard of New York City.
We caught up with Charlie and asked him what the bout meant to him. He told us:
“I have been fighting my entire life for the chance to fight in New York City. I studied all the great Puerto Rican fighters like Carlos Ortiz, Jose “Chegui” Torres, Hector “Macho” Camacho, Wilfred Benitez, and of course my favorite Miguel Cotto. One thing all these fighters had in common on their way up to super stardom was they all fought in the Big Apple and were able to connect with the NYC boxing fan base – which embraces Puerto Rican fighters like no one also else. Also Irish fighters too.”
He added:
“This is the big reason I am happy, it’s my coming out party and it will be against an Irishman who also has not lost and is a monster ticket seller. If you beat a ticket seller, you become one is our team’s mentality. We’ve been fighting our whole life. An undefeated guy is what I been begging my manager Eddie Gonzales to secure for me. The time is here and now.”
Charlie concluded:
“We recently acquired the training services of none other than trainer of the year Virgil Hunter who I have started working with who will be in my corner Thursday, so honored to have that kind of knowledge and expertise around. Look for us to be secure a PBC (Premier Boxing Champions) deal soon. Offers have started coming in, just not where we think our value is. Don’t blink, Thursday I am coming to put the performance of my life on for the Irish and Puerto Ricans that will be jam packing the house. Big shout out to my Irish and Puerto Rican fan base rooting for us!”
