The Devon Alexander vs Walter Castillo fight took place mid week this week as the former world champion looked to get back on track.
After a significant period away from the sport of boxing in recent years, Devon Alexander looked to get his foot back in the game in a ten round bout that took place on Premier Boxing Champions.
Still a highly skillful operator, Alexander did well overall considering his time away from the game and need to shake off ring rust.
He dropped his opponent Castillo in only the second round of the fight but to his credit, Castillo got back to his feet and regained his senses relatively quickly.
From there on out however it was all Devon Alexander really.
He controlled the fight largely overall – to win what proved to be a straight forward unanimous points decision in the end on his comeback fight to the sport.
The win improved his professional boxing record to 27-4-14KO to date.
At 30 years of age at this point, he still has plenty of time on his side to get back into what is now an interesting welterweight division mix in the US.
Fights against fellow PBC stablemates such as Danny Garcia, Errol Spence and Keith Thurman should not be hard to make in theory.
