Heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte offers a remedy to the news that David Haye won’t be fit to fight Tony Bellew in December.
The race is now on to see if the December 17th card will still be going ahead without David Haye who announced a bicep injury today.
With still nearly a month to go, one would expect the event to still take place if the organizers can find a somewhat relevant contender to step into the mix in Haye’s place.
Well, Dillian Whyte has offered just that. Speaking on Twitter he said:
Let’s not let the boxing fans down @EddieHearn I will fight Bellew @TonyBellew in December and beat him up even without a proper training camp @SkySportsBoxing

Gauging by the huge reaction from fans already, there’s certainly interest.
Logically speaking it would be a very easy fight to be made with both men under the same promoters and a fight that Whyte now doubt would love to take to erase what was perhaps a slightly under par performance a few weeks back against Sweden’s Robert Helenius.
Stylistically it would be a fun fight, too. Both guys like to throw big leather and come forward and are never exactly short of a word or two, ensuring plenty of interest in the build up.
If I were a betting man, this would be the favorite for Haye’s replacement I would have thought. At this stage of the game at least.
