Danny Jacobs Son Shouts Something Brilliant Mid Fight

Danny Jacobs son after the 6th round can be heard loud and clear as he watched his father fight in New York.

Danny Jacobs did what he had to do last night on points and will be hoping his new promotional partnership with English boxing promoter Eddie Hearn can bring about a higher profile for him over the months and years ahead.

One that his remarkable story deserves.

Jacobs gave previously unbeaten Luis Arias his first loss of his career last night and proceeded to catapult himself back into the top tier of the 160lbs in doing so.

A loss to the supreme Gennady Golovkin his only blemish in recent years, before that, a defeat to superb Dmitry Pirog back in 2010 in Las Vegas.

But Jacobs knows much more about overcoming adversity in the ring.

A cancer survivor who was told by doctors his boxing career was over, not only proved them wrong – but went on to become a middleweight world champion no less.

His young son clearly the avid supporter of his dad in and out of the ring could be heard shouting at his father’s opponent in between rounds:

“Who’s running now?!”

Ultimately, Jacobs secured a unanimous points decision win and improved his professional boxing record to 33-2-29KO.

Questions will now turn to who it could be next up for him.

No doubt the man himself and his new promoter will target a Golovkin rematch at some point, or the winner of a potential Golovkin Canelo rematch next year,

But other title holders also lay in waiting.

Billy Joe Saunders and David Lemieux will contest the WBO middleweight title next up and after Jacobs’ win last night promoter Eddie Hearn indicated that the winner of the fight could be something for Jacobs in 2018 potentially.
