WBO heavyweight world champion Joseph Parker responds to comments made by UK-based heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.
Joshua when speaking in an interview with IFL TV outlined his desire to unify all the heavyweight belts in 2018 and how New Zealand’s WBO champion Joseph Parker is part of this plan.
The two were thought to be in talks about a possible fight earlier this year but Parker ultimately defended his belt instead against Hughie Fury in Manchester.
Via a close and controversial points decision.
Since then promoter jibes back and forth about an apparent 80/20 split of the fight purse in favor of Joshua have ensued.
Joshua in his interview with IFL TV accused Parker’s of wanting to self his belt essentially – which has sparked a reply from Parker on social media today:
“My belt’s never for sale but I’ll add your two to my collection when you’re ready.”
Parker has said he is willing to travel to the UK once again for a fight following his recent win over Hughie Fury and if Joshua vs Wilder cannot be made immediately next up, this could be a potential fight for Joshua in the meantime while he also waits for Tyson Fury to return to the ring in 2018.
