Deontay Wilder and Joshua promoter Eddie Hearn had an unexpected coming together and phone meeting, so to speak.

The Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder fight might have taken a more tangible step to happening this week following an unexpected phone call.

During radio show ‘Tha Boxing Voice’ (below) Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn was unexpectedly put on the line to current WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.

Indeed, Hearn is in New York this week ahead of a Danny Jacobs middleweight bout he is promoting – so one would hope that he will attempt to speak to the relevant people to put together a unification heavyweight match between Wilder and Joshua.

Wilder has been relentless of his call outs of Joshua and insists he has the beating of the UK-based heavyweight champion.

Neither fighter has lost and both have big knockout records so one would imagine if they do fight, fireworks should be almost guaranteed in the ring.

The politics of boxing and negotiations seem to be the only thing standing in the way of it getting made for fans.
