HBO Commentator Explains How Mayweather vs McGregor Was A Scam

Respected HBO commentator opens up on what he really believes went on in the recent Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor boxing match.

HBO commentator Jim Lampley is well known to fight fans the world over from his years of service covering the sport on HBO in the States.

The Mayweather vs McGregor event has come and gone now, but the after effects and comments are still continuing such was the scale of the show.

Speaking to TMZ on if Mayweather will stay retired, Lampley responded candidly:

“Why should he retire? He created a marvellous scam with this whole thing. He allowed Conor to quote ‘win 3 rounds’, so the whole global MMA wish community could have something to latch onto. I think there’s a decent chance that there’s enough suckers out there that Floyd could make another $150 million (in a rematch).”

Floyd Mayweather for his part has categorically said he is retired since the bout and Conor McGregor for his part looks to be returning to his normal sport of MMA in the UFC.

Whether there would be demand for a part two remains highly questionable.

The fight did superb on pay per view, yes, but it didn’t break the record like it was expected to. So a part two seems unlikely.
