Former international soccer player Rio Ferdinand showing his first bit of boxing training as he embarks on his first professional boxing match soon.
Rio Ferdinand is underway in his training as he bids to prove people wrong in what some have called another freak show in boxing.
Freak shows certainly sell however, and people no doubt will tune in but how Ferdinand does, time will only tell.
No opponent has been mentioned just yet. Or if and when he’ll be granted a professional boxing license from the British Boxing Board of Control.
It is understood that the company sponsoring his boxing venture, Betfair, will look to help him in obtaining a professional boxing license.
Today Ferdinand posted first footage of him working on some boxing, namely taking shots to the body:

It is thought that the ex-international and Manchester United player’s motivation is simply for the challenge of getting in the ring.
He’s taken a fair bit of stick from fellow sportsmen in recent weeks but one has to afford him a great deal of respect for having the bottle to get in the ring in the first place.
Hopefully it will drive quiet a few more eyeballs to boxing from those you might not have watched the sport before.
