Billy Joe Saunders Calls Out Golovkin For Unification Showdown

Billy Joe Saunders calls out Golovkin following both men’s world title fights this past weekend on either side of the Atlantic.

WBO middleweight world champion Billy Joe Saunders retained his world title this past weekend with a points win over American Willie Monroe Jr.

On the same night middleweight kingpin Gennady Golovkin fought to a draw with Canelo Alvarez in Las Vegas.

Given the controversy involved in one of the judges’ score cards of the fight, calls for an immediate rematch have been happening already.

However Saunders wants a crack at Golovkin next up and called him out today on Twitter:

Whether or not the Englishman gets an immediate crack remains to be seen.

In theory, one would think the Canelo vs Golovkin rematch would be aimed at for next May in Vegas again – given another popular Mexican holiday that would sell tickets for Mexican fight star Canelo.

This would give between and now for Golovkin to take on Saunders which could be cutting it thin, in theory.
