Rigondeaux Reacts To Finally Getting The Lomachenko Fight

Cuban boxing legend Guillermo Rigondeaux reacts to at long last getting the big fight that he’s wanted – Vasyl Lomachenko.

Boxing fans were in fine voice last night when the news became official that Rigondeaux and Lomachenko will duke it out on December 9th at Madison Square Garden.

For those who’ve followed Rigondeaux’s career in recent years, it almost had the sense of impending doom surrounding it, in that many thought he’d never get another big fight of note again.

Years of frustration have gone by but now he gets his chance against a man many consider to be one of the very best in the sport today, pound for pound.

Rigondeaux gave his reaction to the news by saying:

The fight will see Rigondeaux box a lot higher than his normal weight class, granted, but that doesn’t take away from the sheer brilliance of it.

The last time boxing saw one of it’s two pound for pound stars fight Andre Ward and Sergey Kovalev, both of their fights were promotional flops.

No one knew about them outside of hardcore boxing fans in truth.

Rigondeaux thanked Arum also after making the fight:
