Saunders vs Monroe Jr Will Be Available On YouTube In The US

Saunders vs Monroe Jr for the WBO world middleweight title will be made available for free for viewers across the US on YouTube.

The move comes following recent news that the WBO heavyweight title fight between Joseph Parker and Hughie Fury would also be shown on the platform.

It is understood that the company Banner Promotions will be broadcasting the main event as well as the co-main event that takes place this weekend in the UK at the Copperbox Arena in London.

The company have done similar ventures in boxing before for streaming. Notably on the Twitter platform where they have also broadcast fights.

The co-main event will also be available to viewers on YouTube that features ‘The Beast’ Anthony Yarde. The action will be available on the Banner Promotions YouTube channel it is understood.

This continued move to more and more digital avenues for boxing coverage is certainly interesting – and refreshing in that it is at least being tried out.

One interesting point was brought up by one of our readers that got me thinking.

If the future of watching live sporting events really is purely online and in particular, on mobile devices, will that mean that large groups of friends or families buying fights will sit around a laptop screen or mobile device to watch them?

It seems odd, but then again, don’t write it off just yet.

Perhaps the internet just needs to get more onto TV. Sports events strike me as something that people will always enjoy socially on large screens in groups together.

The Saunders vs Monroe Jr fight takes place this weekend on Saturday, September 16th.
