World Boxing Super Series World Title Fight Announced For East Coast

A World Boxing Super Series World Title bout has been announced for the East Coast of the US for the first time in the tournament.

The World Boxing Super Series kicks off this weekend – but it’s going to be a hectic few weeks and months ahead with fights coming thick and fast all around the world in the cruiserweight and super-middleweight divisions.

On October 21st it has been announced that a quarter final in the cruiserweight leg of the tournament will now take place in Newark, New Jersey in the Murat “Iron” Gassiev vs Krzysztof Wlodarczyk fight for the IBF title.

The bout will take place at the Prudential Center.

The fighters will be competing for a chance to not only progress for the semi-finals of the tournament and with a world title on the line in its own right – but ultimately for a chance to win the ‘Muhammad Ali’ trophy which is on offer for the winner of the WBSS.

The choosing of Newark seems to be a decision to try to bring out the Polish fight fans to support fellow countryman and former champion Krzysztof Wlodarczyk.

Champion Gassiev is currently second favorite to win the tournament overall, with Oleksandr Usyk currently leading the way with odds makers to capture the ‘Muhammad Ali’ trophy.

Usyk kicks off the tournament this weekend in Germany against Marco Huck.
