Miguel Cotto vs Yoshihiro Kamegai video highlights above following another win for the Puerto Rican boxing great.
Miguel Cotto scored a unanimous decision points win this past weekend at the StubHub Center in Carson, California, that went considerably under the radar due to the Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor event in Las Vegas on the same night.
Going into the fight some expected that it could very well be Cotto’s last bout ever, but afterwards trainer Freddie Roach intimated they want the winner of Gennady Golovkin vs Canelo Alvarez in December before Cotto retires.
Either way, it looks like this year will be Cotto’s last and what a career it’s been when one looks back at his resume.
His win on Saturday night was never in doubt really, in truth. It was at 154lbs and saw him win the vacant WBO title at the weight class.
Super-welterweight is probably the weight that suits him best at this point – but if an opportunity comes knocking for the middleweight title in the form of the winner of Golovkin vs Canelo – it would no doubt be too good to turn down.
As the above Miguel Cotto vs Yoshihiro Kamegai video highlights from HBO YouTube (hat tip) show, the great Puerto Rican warrior still has some fire left in him just yet.
