Sugar Ray Leonard reacts to the Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor boxing match at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Sugar Ray Leonard knows a thing or two about boxing and has been complimentary to what he saw from Irishman Conor McGregor on his pro boxing debut against Floyd Mayweather last night.
Speaking after the fight in his post-fight TV analysis, Sugar Ray Leonard said:
“McGregor surprised me. He impressed me with being able to utilize his own style to keep Mayweather off balance for a few rounds. For four or five rounds. It was amazing. Then what happened all of a sudden by the 7th round or so he just ran out of gas.”
He added:
“The fact that he used his jab (impressed me). He did some things that some normal guys wouldn’t do but I tell you what – he (McGregor) was tough.”
After the bout McGregor noted that he has been having consistent problems in all of his fights in recent years in fatiguing in the middle of fights and would be trying to address this when he returns to his career as a mixed martial artist in the UFC.
With the win – Floyd Mayweather improved his professional boxing record to 50-0 (27KO) while McGregor goes 0-1 as a pro boxer.
