Mayweather and McGregor React To Fight In Post-Fight Interviews

Floyd Mayweather and McGregor react to the 10th round stoppage by the referee in Las Vegas in their post-fight interviews.

Conor McGregor will have won a lot of new fans tonight by proving he could in fact land some punches on Floyd Mayweather, win some early rounds and last a hell of a lot longer than most people thought he could.

His awkward style early on proved useful for him but as the bout wore on the writing was on the walls.

What a competitor though – to last in there like he did and take some of the shots he did took incredible heart.

Ultimately he was stopped on his feet by the referee in round 10 after being bamboozled with lead right hands from Floyd Mayweather.

An expected win for Mayweather to be fair.

McGregor afterwards was magnanimous in defeat and expressed his belief that he should have been left try to see the end of the round out, also mentioning that no one takes risks like him:

He’s right – no one does take risks like him and he’ll be well rewarded financially for his courage tonight. His stock will have also gone up a lot in defeat and he can return to the UFC an even bigger star than before.

Now however, boxing can carry on with legitimate top level action in the sport to resume in the coming weeks with Gennady Golovkin vs Canelo Alvarez on September 16th.
