Video: Paulie Malignaggi Calls Out Conor McGregor For Boxing Match

Popular New Yorker Paulie Malignaggi calls out Conor McGregor for a boxing match following news the Irish UFC star was granted a boxing license this week.

McGregor has been issued a license to box in the State of California and it is also understood he is currently in the process of getting his license in the State of Nevada.

McGregor continues to make the headlines despite the fact it is now looking like he will sit out for a period, as him and his partner currently are expecting their first child on the way soon.

However that hasn’t stopped fighters from the boxing world calling him out – as Paulie Malignaggi is the latest pro boxer to chime in:

Many have pointed this week to McGregor’s obtaining of a boxing license as simply a cynical move to create more PR and interest around himself, which could very well be the case.

After all, he has proven to be a genius promoter and marketing maestro to get as far as he has in such a short time frame, with him easily being the biggest name for 2016 in combat sports.

But the reality is that he is under contract with the UFC.

It’s highly unlikely the new corporation who recently purchased the organization for a whopping $4 million dollars would let their biggest star step into a boxing ring and risk getting battered by a pro boxer.

The two sports are completely different and there is a school of thought in the boxing community that says McGregor would not be able to compete with novice professional boxers, never mind the likes of Floyd Mayweather or others.

But you have to admire his ability to drum up interest.

Think about it.

While he sits back without fighting while awaiting the arrival of his first child, he gets a boxing license in the mean time and stirs up huge media debate – without actually fighting at all?

Marketing genius.
