Dereck Chisora came out with one of the more unusual lines at a boxing press conference today ahead of his upcoming heavyweight showdown with the UK’s Dillian Whyte.
There is clearly no love lost at this stage between Whyte and Dereck Chisora, with a real feeling of genuine needle prevalent during today’s press conference ahead of their fight on December 10th in Manchester.
At today’s press conference Chisora said:
“For me I’ve lost six fights, people write me off. You can’t write me off because I’m like the herpes, one minute I’m gone, one minute I pop back up (laughs). It’s like you go to the doctor to get pills, I disappear then suddenly I come back up. It is what it is. There is nothing much I am scared of my opponent (Dillian Whyte) because he don’t bring much to the table. He throws a good selection of punches which is okay. I am looking forward to the fight. Me and Don (Charles) got back together. When we split it was like a mutual split and I told him one day we’ll do it again. And now where back together. Can’t wait.”
On how he thought the fight will go on December 10th – Chisora added:
“All I see is Dillian on the canvas.”
His opponent Dillian Whyte said of Chisora ahead of the fight that:
“Dereck is deluded as everyone knows. He thought he was going to go to Germany and KO (Kubrat) Pulev. He went out there and stank the place out. He showed no ambition and no heart in that fight. All he did was come forward and keep getting hit in his face all night long. And the same thing is going to happen again. For this fight I’m definitely looking to knock him out.”
The fight will take part as a night of pay per view action on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK and will also be shown live on Showtime in the US.
The card that will be headlined by IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua who takes on American Eric Molina.
