Report: David Haye Says Joshua vs Klitschko Agreed

Joshua vs Klitschko agreed and done according to former WBA heavyweight champion of the world David Haye.

Could boxing fans get ready to start celebrating the announcement of a massive heavyweight title fight before Christmas?

Quite possibly.

According to David Haye who has not divulged how exactly he is privy to the fight’s negotiations, he is saying today on Twitter that Anthony Joshua vs Klitschko is agreed and done:

Great to hear Joshua-Klitschko is done. Timing is everything & the time now is perfect for AJ.?? Reminds me of Ali ??Vs Berbick #FatherTime

— David Haye (@mrdavidhaye) October 11, 2016

If Haye is on point here though, wow.

In a year that has seen so many big fights in boxing fall out for one reason or another, this is a fight that fans can really look forward to after what is already shaping up to be a huge month of November for the sport.

Haye’s comparison to Muhammad Ali above might raise a few eyebrows however, but nonetheless, this news can only be seen as positive.

No official confirmation has come yet from team Joshua or team Klitschko – so lets not get excited too quickly however.

But logically speaking and thinking, I can’t see why Haye would say the fight is done if it wasn’t.

I just don’t see what he has to gain from it other than a small bit of publicity, which he doesn’t exactly need and has been on the redemption road with fans all year anyway – giving back to the fans with free to air TV of his fights and so forth.

Lets wait for the full announcement from Joshua or Klitschko’s promoters following this, but for the time being, things are looking very good indeed.

As regards David Haye, he has said that he will be returning to the ring this December against an as of yet opponent to be named.

It was thought that the fight would be against American Shannon Briggs but as things stand, it is not known if the two will get it on now.

***Article update – Joshua promoter Eddie Hearn has since denied Haye’s claim of the Joshua vs Klitschko fight being done but said he is still hopeful.
