Eddie Hearn Signs Luis Ortiz To Matchroom Boxing Stable

Promoter Eddie Hearn signs Luis Ortiz making the heavyweight his latest addition to a formidable stable he has developed over the last few years.

For fans of the sport, you will know that Cuban heavyweight Luis Ortiz is one of the division’s dark horses, avoided by many for his power and skills in equal measure.

It seems for some time though that the talented heavyweight was having a hard time catching a break and this year after parting ways with US promoter Golden Boy Promotions, it appeared the options were once again very limited for the 37 year old.

That has all changed today however, with the UK’s leading boxing promoter announcing the news that Ortiz will be joining their team:

Delighted to welcome Luis @kingkongboxing Ortiz to the @MatchroomBoxing team! His next fight will be in November and announced on Monday! ?

— Eddie Hearn (@EddieHearn) October 8, 2016

The wheel always turns as they say, and this talented Cuban has finally caught a break that his ability and prior accomplishments more than merit.

Ortiz (25-0-22KO) last fought back in March when he knocked out American Tony Thompson and his next fight (although not officially announced until Monday) is widely thought to be against Carlos Takam in Monte Carlo on November 12th.
