In case you missed the fight last night, below are the Danny Jacobs vs Sergio Mora video highlights, in what turned out to be a fairly one sided affair.
On the weekend of pound for pound stars Roman Gonzalez and Gennady Golovkin in action in the US and UK respectively, there was another world champion in action also in Danny ‘Miracle Man’ Jacobs.
Jacobs’ story of overcoming hardship is as inspiring as any in boxing, having survived cancer to not only return to the ring as a professional athlete, but a very successful world champion to date too.
His latest test came against a man who he had faced once before last year in Sergio Mora, when he stopped him inside the distance on that occasion in his native Brooklyn in New York.
Jacobs wasn’t in his hometown this time though but the result was similar, in a slightly sloppy but still very effective display that saw him stop Mora in the 7th round, in a rather easy fight for Jacobs in truth.
Jacobs knocked the outmatched Mora down 5 times in total in the fight, 3 times in the 7th round until the referee finally had enough of what he was seeing.
It is hard to know what Jacobs might have learned from such an uncompetitive encounter to defend his WBA (regular) title, also against a man whom he had already beaten once before.
It is expected that a fight between Jacobs and Gennady Golovkin will now be ordered to take place next year at some point by the WBA.
Jacobs previously called ‘GGG’ out earlier this summer, granted, after ‘GGG’ was one the verge of securing an opponent in Chris Eubank Jr at the time – only to then sign to fight Kell Brook.
