Freddie Roach Approached By Conor McGregor For Boxing Training

The legendary boxing trainer has confirmed that UFC star Conor ‘Notorious’ McGregor has been in touch with him regarding boxing training.

The Irish mixed martial artist has recently been linked to some type of super-fight with boxing great Floyd Mayweather, where apparently talks are underway for a potential bout to take place under boxing rules.

As I’m sure many fans of both the sweet science and mixed martial arts would likely agree, such a bout under the Marquess of Queensberry rules would almost certainly result in guaranteed pain for McGregor.

However, since the talks that initially emerged on the fight came out, both men have stoked the fire even further in recent days, with McGregor making a post on social media with a picture of him and Mayweather – and Mayweather himself saying the bout was “possible.”

Now however things have taken a new step, with Radio Rahim of Boxing Scene reporting that Freddie Roach has confirmed McGregor is looking to train with him:

“They did ask me if I’ll train him. I said: ‘Sure bring him down.’ I’d like to meet the guy and see what he has. He seems like a nice guy.”

Although this certainly by no means confirms anything pertaining to the recent Mayweather-McGregor story, it is a strong indication that McGregor could be getting ready for a straight boxing match given the credentials of a coach such as Freddie Roach.
