Irish female boxing icon Katie Taylor has recorded a loss in the boxing ring today, in a defeat that no one saw coming.

The female boxer is regarded as one of the greatest women fighters to ever put on a pair of gloves but today, for the first time in over five years, she lost a fight.
It was only the 8th loss of a remarkable career that has seen her record 165 wins overall so far, and her first loss in the ring without her father Peter in the corner.
The loss came in a matchup that would have qualified the defending Olympic champion for the upcoming Rio Olympics.
