The former heavyweight champion was interviewed immediately after been knocked out by Anthony Joshua last weekend, but now after collecting his thoughts and coming to terms with defeat, he has properly spoken on the fight for the first time.
Last weekend Anthony Joshua demolished American Charles Martin in two one-sided, clinical rounds, to become the new IBF heavyweight champion.
Since the win, some fight fans have expressed their disappointment in the standard of the bout, given the fact there was a heavyweight title on the line after all.
Charles Martin has had this to say on Twitter:
While the fight certainly was not rigged as some may have suggested to Martin on Twitter above, the level of return fire shown from Martin as champion towards Joshua as challenger, certainly let some fans down on the night.
One would suspect that a significant rebuilding and regrouping job will now take place for the former champion, as he attempts to plot his way back into the mix of heavyweight contenders in the coming months.
For those that didn’t get a chance to watch the fight, here’s the moment it came to a dramatic halt last week (via CBS / Showtime):
