News has emerged today relating to Liverpool’s Tony Bellew that will see him challenge for the WBC cruiserweight title.

According to his promoter Eddie Hearn on Twitter, terms have been agreed for a fight that will see him contest for his first world title at the cruiserweight limit.

It will come as welcome news to his loyal Liverpudlian and UK supporters who have seen him previously just fall up just short in challenging for the world title, when he was stopped by Adonis Stevenson at light-heavyweight back in 2013 and when he was outpointed by Nathan Cleverly in their first encounter back in 2011.

Here’s what Hearn had to say:

The boxer turned actor recently played a starring role in the latest Rocky movie ‘Creed’ but will now putting his acting scripts on hold as he returns to what he does best.

Bellew (26-2-1-16KO) last fought in December when he captured the vacant European title with a unanimous decision points victory over Mateusz Masternak at the O2 Arena in London.
