Eddie Hearn Lists 8 Possible Opponents For Joshua On April 9th

Anthony Joshua has quickly become a box office star in his short time as a professional and thus, there’s plenty in the queue looking for a fight.

April 9th at the 02 Arena in London has been penciled in for UK heavyweight rising star Anthony Joshua’s next professional contest, with an official announcement expected in the coming weeks on who it will be.

Joshua is now ranked (rather incredibly to be fair) number two in both the WBC and WBO rankings, which is quite impressive considering the fact he is still in the learning phase of his career and realistically, still an outstanding prospect and not a world title challenger, just quite yet at least.

Speaking in an interview with Kugan Cassius of IFL TV, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has hinted at three initial front runners that he’s looking at for April 9th:

“Bryant Jennings, Bermane Stiverne, (Johann) Duhaupas.”

But he went on to mention that this week alone another five fighters have thrown there names into the hat for a fight with Joshua, bringing the now rather long list of potential opponents to 8 in total:

“Hughie Fury, Haye, Parker, Jarell Miller, Chisora.”

Out of all the above names perhaps Hughie Fury, David Haye, Joseph Parker and Dereck Chisora would arguably be the best from a competition standpoint, with a fight against Haye in particular likely to attract massive attention, if it were to come to fruition this year.
