Undefeated welterweight prospect George Hennon March Opponent Revealed

Undefeated welterweight George Hennon (2-0) will receive a stern test in his next contest on March 4th against an aggressive Newark fighter.

Hennon will face Fonz Alexander (3-25) at the Grays Civic Hall. The Kent-based 21-year-old’s third pro bout will serve as Alexander’s 30th contest on a Carl Greaves Promotions show. Both boxers share a victory over the same opponent in Matt Seawright previously.

From Snodland in Kent, Hennon said of his forthcoming 27-year-old opponent:

“I know it’s a step up because he comes to win and that type of style will be perfect for me. My previous two opponents have been so good at their job but were defensively orientated, I think he’ll take a few risks and throw shots, which benefits me.”

The 21-year-old’s third professional outing will double up as trainer Johnny Greaves’ 37th birthday. Johnny Greaves said:

“George has shown his desire to push on and see how far he can go. I’m happy to put him into a risky fight because I think he’s good enough.”

After participating in 100 professional bouts himself, Greaves is confident that Hennon has the style to beat the Nottinghamshire boxer:

“Against Fonz, who walks forward and lets his hands go, George will do well because he is a counter-puncher. He’s got the skills and the class to beat him all day long.”

A former English and European kick-boxing champion, Hennon has so far defeated both his opponents on points, prevailing against the seasoned veteran Matt Seawright (5-122-5) on his pro debut in June 2015 and Ali Wyatt (4-28-2) four months later in October.

His third outing in the paid ranks will be his first six three-minute round contest, he confirmed:

“I’m 100 per cent ready for it.”

Hennon trains out of the famous Peacock Gym in London’s East End with trainers, Johnny and Frank Greaves, and teammate Sonny Whiting who shares the same bill for the first time.

Hennon enthused:

“It’s wicked to have Sonny with me on the first show together. I think he’ll do well against his opponent. I’ve sparred Sonny already and it gets more competitive between us as we go on and get sharper.”

Hennon benefits from plenty of quality sparring in the Peacock Gym with two-time Southern Area title challenger, Ryan Taylor and unbeaten internet sensation, Romeo Romaeo based at the same facility. He added:

“Romeo is always in the gym looking for sparring so he’ll definitely be around. Hopefully I’ll get down to Surrey to spar Lenny Daws again and Johnny and Frank will sort me out with some top sparring.”
