George Groves says it will be 3rd time lucky

The Englishman will challenge Badou Jack for the WBC super middleweight championship of the world on the undercard of Mayweather vs Berto in September.

UK super middleweight contender “Saint” George Groves was magnanimous, brief and respectful at the opening Mayweather vs Berto press conference in LA.

Many will remember the exciting Englishman from last year’s massive Wembley stadium showdown in London, where he and former champion Carl Froch packed out the arena with a post-war attendance record for boxing of 80,000 people.

It wasn’t meant to be for him on that night, nor on the occasion before that (also against Froch), but the man from Hammersmith believes it will be third time lucky when he challenges Badou Jack on September 12th in Vegas.

Jack has been an underestimated foe recently, but Groves sounds like he has already done some of his homework on the champion, on what will be a night where he knows he’ll be expected by a lot of people to produce the goods.

Don’t write off Badou Jack however, this one  is a real tasty – competitive match up for my money.

Here’s what Groves had to say at the Mayweather vs Berto opening press conference:
