The greatest female boxer of all time, easily, and my some margin too, Claressa Shields gave her take on tonight’s Stevenson win.
The Newark man got the UD win on points in his hometown but maybe could have started a bit faster in the fight.
Nonetheless, Shields said to Fight Hype afterwards:
“I think he looked great. Everyone was talking he was on his wheels. He walked the dude down and the dude got on his wheels. He’s going to have criticism, oh he didn’t knock him out. It’s not all about the knockout bro. What am I 14-0 with two knockouts and I’m pound for pound number one woman boxer. So It’s not all about knockouts. Shakur got skills. Of course like we all make our mistakes. He did what he was supposed to do. He looked real.”
Speaking on her X account Shields said:
“Hahahahah CONGRATS SHAKUR!!!! @ShakurStevenson !!!!”
It is clear Shields thinks Stevenson would beat Gervonta Davis but on tonight’s performance he would need to turn it up a notch if fighting “Tank”.
The very popular Shields fights later this month for the world women’s heavyweight title in Detroit, quite remarkably.
Something never before even attempted in women’s boxing let alone achieved.
That fight this month is arguably the biggest thing ever in women’s boxing history so far.
