Errol Spence was once a heck of a welterweight fighter and champion back in the day but he has been away from boxing for ages ahead of his comeback.
Once a powerhouse at 147 pounds, he went from being a technically focused counter puncher in the amateurs to more a bulldozer merchant in the pros.
He got used to over powering foes until he ran into a brick wall in the form of Terence Crawford.
Over three years ago Crawford boxed the ears off him and stopped him inside the distance.
Some time before that he was in a life changing vehicle collision that he never was the same from as well.
The beating Bud Crawford gave him only compounded that truth for him further, ironically, for a man who once nicknamed himself as ‘The Truth’.
The truth is the Texan returns on July 25th next week against Tim Tszyu and at the last minute has asked his Australian counterpart to agree to something.
By all accounts he has moved the goal posts for the catchweight fight from a 158 pounds bout to 160 pounds.
And it looks like Tszyu has agreed based on being very confident about the bout.
It shows the Errol Spence was struggling to make weight and going all the way to Australia as well for the bout.
It shows you the lack of belief he had in himself at even making 158 pounds as a catchweight.
Clearly.
Advantage to Tszyu again.
