Murat Gassiev finds himself in a changing heavyweight boxing division landscape and could find himself in big fights now.
An unexpected addition to the heavyweight fragmented mix in professional boxing at the moment.
He had a solid win at the weekend in Russia.
He stopped Peter Kadiru in the 6th round in Moscow.
Kadiru was very much out matched though and Gassiev just peppered him with hooks and unanswered uppercuts in the end to finish him.
The hand speed of Gassiev is impressive up at heavyweight though and he mentioned a fight with Derek Chisora of the UK after.
It is not clear if he is retired or not.
Even he could be competitive with a faded American heavyweight like Deontay Wilder now as well in a fight.
You could put him in with a top 15 contender at heavyweight at this point after the knockout of Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev last year as well for Gassiev.
You could put him in there maybe as well with someone like a Jared Anderson in the US as well.
Gassiev is doing alright now.
He improved his professional boxing record to 34-2-27 KO with the win at the weekend.
